Originally from San Francisco, California, I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Arabic Studies at The American University in Cairo. My main area of interest is Mamluk and Ottoman Egypt, and in particular the social, economic, and spatial relations between different religious and ethnic groups in Cairo during these periods.

Cairo is a fascinating, ancient, multilayered city, and I hope to share parts of it with friends and family through this journal. I’ve been a Cairene for two years and have lived in Wust el-Balad, Doqqi and Zamalek.
